Jersey Water Works Steering Committee Co-Chairs Jane Kenny and Mark Mauriello released the following statement on Governor Murphy’s 2020 State of the State Address:
“New Jersey faces many water infrastructure issues, most visibly that of lead in our drinking water. We are pleased to see Governor Murphy continuing to elevate the importance of addressing lead holistically. Tackling lead is critical to the health of all New Jerseyans, but especially our children. Governor Murphy’s commitment to work with the legislature to secure funding to replace hazardous lead service lines and remediate paint builds on the work done by the Jersey Water Works Lead in Drinking Water Task Force. We look forward to working with the governor and legislature to implement the Task Force’s recommendations.
However, there is even more work to do to ensure that our water infrastructure is reliable, efficient and up to the task of supplying our homes, businesses, and schools with healthy drinking water, clean waterways and flood-free communities. We look forward to engaging our 560 members to help the governor and legislature to accomplish these goals.”
