ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  1. Promoted the EPA’s Creating Resilient Water Utilities (CRWU) and Roadmap to a Secure and Resilient Water and Wastewater Sector in various ways, including a meeting with CRWU EPA staff.
  2. Submitted comments on the Resilient Environments and Landscapes (REAL) portion of the New Jersey Protecting Against Climate Threat (NJ PACT) rules with the GI committee.
  1. Submitted comments on NJDEP Strategic Climate Action Plan with the GI committee.
  2. Advanced on developing a roadmap for drinking water and wastewater utilities that have yet to or are just beginning to build resilience against the impacts of climate change.
  3. Promoted climate resilience funding availability via emails, meetings, and newsletters.
  1. Convened members to determine the scope, short- and long-term goals, and work plan items in this new committee. 
  2. Prepared a rough outline for a resilient utility roadmap resource that will include flooding resilience and be shared with public drinking water and wastewater utilities.
  3. Organized a JWW Conference session focused on how New Jersey has developed a process to identify climate impacts; how municipalities can best advocate for their most vulnerable residents; and how the state, municipalities, and utilities can work together to maximize federal funding support to resiliency assessments and implement projects.
  4. Reviewed the draft Inland Flood Protection rule as part of the New Jersey Protecting Against Climate Threats (NJ PACT) rules and submitted comments to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).
